For me, drawing and painting is merely a relaxation from writing and I have boundless admiration for those for whom painting is central to their lives and careers.

Among artists whose work I admire are three in particular. I have been fortunate enough to meet the first two, Briggs and Kukkonen, at their respective studios. They are very different from one another in style and subject matter, as is the multi-talented D'Ambrosio.

All three have my respect and admiration.

An American based in Nashville, Bill Briggs's studio looks out over the Cumberland River. His inspiration comes from many things, including the musical history of Tennessee.

*

*

A Finn who lives and works in Málaga, Heikki Kukkonen's studio is close to this busy seaport's harbour. His inspiration stems from powerful and dramatic images of Spain.

*

Singer-songwriter Meredith D'Ambrosio's paintings sometimes appear on her album covers. She is inspired by many things, notably rural and small-town America.

My website was designed and built by myself, which accounts for the fact that it is quite basic. I had help and advice from a friend, Steve Walker, who should not be blamed for any hiccups, most of which result from me not listening to him. At the moment (September 2008), Steve is nearing the end of a long trip to Brazil, which he recounts in fascinating detail on his blog: http://www.swalk.eu/

I have used Buttons and Clip Art, et cetera, from AAA:

The Counter on my Home page is by Jelly.
